The Haley 150 is an extra-firm futon or conventional mattress by Otis Bed, similar in design to the other Haley models but built specifically for individuals with extra, extra, extra-firm sleep needs. It is a very popular platform bed mattress and is only offered in Twin, Full, Queen, and King sizes.
Important Firmness Note: Compared to an extra-firm conventional mattress, the Haley 150 is extra, extra, extra firm — you must almost like sleeping on a board, with some give. This model is intended for flat bed (platform) use only and will not bend for use on a folding futon frame.

Haley 150 Cushioning System
All Otis mattresses are made from 100% woven polyester fabric.
- 7.5 oz Twill Fabric – Durable outer ticking that holds tuft tension
- 9" High-Performance Foam – Minimum 2 lb density foam keeps the mattress looking and feeling good
- Double Polyester Layer – Top and bottom layers create a clean finished appearance
- Machine Tufting – Reduces mattress thickness to lock in long mattress life
- Tape Edge Closure – Ensures proper fit and finish of the mattress cover
Otis Construction Standards
- Bench Built: Hand-crafted for uniform quality control
- Boxed Edges: True measurable thickness with tailored appearance
- Slightly Shorter: Otis mattresses are 1 to 2 inches shorter due to the boxed design
- Overstuffed Core: Approx. 14" of resilient foam and fiber compressed for long-term support
- Tape Edge Closure: Reinforced edge construction for durability and shape retention
- Compression Lace Tufting: Button-less tufting system that compresses and stabilizes internal materials for lasting performance
Comfort & Durability Philosophy
Otis mattresses are engineered to be as comfortable as they are durable. The Haley 150's overstuffed construction creates an "inside out" force against the mattress ticking that provides proper, comfortable support whether sitting or lying down.
Unlike lower-quality futons, Otis uses highly resilient high-density foam (1.8 lb per cubic foot or better). Lower density foams (1.2–1.4 lb) found in other products reduce lifespan and performance.
Important Notes on Thickness & Quality
Thickness can be misleading in the mattress industry. Many mattresses are rounded or overestimated for marketing purposes. Otis mattresses use true boxed edges, making thickness measurable and consistent.
More important than thickness is the quality of materials inside. High-density foam and resilient construction allow the Haley 150 to maintain its shape and comfort for 10–15 years. For those who want a lighter, more affordable option, our 6" Stratosphere futon mattress is also a strong value and outperforms many so-called 8, 9, and 10-inch futons on the market today.
Grip Strips Recommendation
Grip Strips are strongly recommended for the Haley 150 to keep the mattress properly positioned and functioning as intended.
Cover & Thickness Guidelines
Standard futon covers are designed for 6" mattresses. The Haley 150's true 8" profile requires a true 8" box-corner cover. Using an undersized cover will alter comfort and make handling more difficult.
The mattress is the most used component of any futon or platform bed. Invest in quality materials that maintain comfort and structural integrity over time.
